Computer Man College is considered as the first specialized college established in Sudan in 1991 which delivers programs focusing on ICT. It is the first college that introduced the information technology program at the regional level, and also the first in Sudan offering computer engineering program, and the second college that introduced the two programmes of telecommunication engineering and digital architecture and design. The foundation of the college was accompanied with the huge bounce in the information technology that the world has witnessed, and the effect of which has been reflected in the administrative and economical structures in all countries. New concepts were created such as globalization, knowledge societies, e-commerce and e-government.

During this era, the college has embarked on distinctive strategic plans, to offer three programs in information technology, computer science, and engineering, and followed by introducing the telecommunication engineering, and architecture engineering and design.
In order to achieve the goals of such plans and programmes, the College was keen to follow the most modern and advanced systems and methods of transfer of knowledge to the students. To attain developments in the different fields of computer science, the college introduced in 2008 five news programs to obtain B.Sc (Honors) degrees, four of these are introduced for first time in Sudan, such as knowledge Management, Knowledge Engineering, Geo-informatics and Remote Sensing (GIS) and Creative Multimedia.
The college administration was keen to have an academic system similar to the deep-rooted systems in other world universities, that adopted modern academic systems characterized by flexibility that embraces the new education technology. One of these systems is known as credited hours system which gave education a new dimension to discover the students abilities at all levels of intelligence.
On the other hand, Computer Man College opted for the credit hours system on the understanding that this system is the most suitable system for delivering computer science programme, technology of informatics and modern management systems. Therefore the adoption of the credit hours system had laid the foundation of a new academic system suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
With open mind to others experiences, worldwide, through exchange programmes of academic curricula, academic staff and published research materials, the College was capable to design its adapted credit hours system. This has led to the transformation of the College as a centre of excellence enabling development of its academic staff and the creation of new centres of research and development as integral institutions
The space technology centre and the Unesco-Cousteau ecotechnie chair are examples of these centres bridging the gap between the College and other international universities (America, Europe and Asia). Through the agreements protocols and memoranda of understanding between the College and institutions in advanced countries, the College managed to place itself among world universities and thus became a forum for international personalities like Professor Farouk El Baz, Professor Ahmed Zewail, Madame Francine Cousteau and other personalities of international stature. The College in this manner attracted both public and private sectors agencies to enlist its help in holding seminars and workshops and in designing and appraising many development projects.
