Dr. MA. Emmalyn A. V. Capuno Accepts Role as New Information technology Department Head
         
 

The Computer Man College is pleased to announce that Dr. Ma. Emmalyn Asuncion De Vigal Capuno has accepted the position of Head of the Information Technology Department of the College. She started her leadership with the department last December 19, 2009.

Dr. Capuno who comes from the Philippines earned her Doctor of Philosophy major in Information Technology Management (PhD-ITM) magna cum laude from Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba in 2005. She is also a graduate of Master in Management major in Public Administration (MM-PA) from Laguna College of Business and Arts and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) Computer and Communications Option from University of the Philippines-Diliman with an undergraduate program of Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

As a dedicated academician/educator for more than twenty (20) years, Dr. Capuno has served as Chief Academic Affairs Officer/ Academic Head / College Dean/ Associate Professor to various academic institutions in the Philippines overseeing faculty recruitment, orientation, course assignments, and management including professional development, evaluation, curriculum implementation and control. She ensured government regulatory compliance in the areas of file maintenance, submissions and accreditation readiness and visits. She also ensured compliance with academic policy and procedure provided by the top management as well as collaborating on program and policy development while ensuring students’ satisfactory academic progress in the areas of attendance, grades, matriculation, retention and graduation. In all of these duties, it has been of paramount importance that she treats most matters with strict confidence and that she exercise good judgment and diplomacy at all times.

In her more than two decades as a Faculty Member both in the Undergraduate and Graduate programs, Dr. Capuno supports advancement of knowledge in different subject areas most especially on areas of research and development, conducts teaching and teaching related duties in a courteous, consistent and professional manner, maintain currency in subject content and instructional methodology and technology, model and teaches critical thinking skills to students and treat all students equally with respect regardless of such factors as cultural background, race, gender, religious beliefs, political ideologies, disability, sexual orientation, age or socioeconomic status.

As a well-exposed industry practitioner, Dr. Capuno worked with top multinational companies rising from the ranks of Junior-Programmer to Analyst Programmer to Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer and later landing the senior-level executive position of Chief information Officer/Special Project Director (CIO/SPD) to a Global Company. As CIO/SPD, she was responsible for establishing and maintaining the enterprise vision, strategy and program to ensure information assets are adequately protected; directing the IT Department staff in identifying, developing, implementing and maintaining processes across the organization, responds to incidents, establish appropriate standards and controls, and directs the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures.
