Computer Man University College for Computer Studies in Khartoum, Sudan, is a specialized private higher learning institution offering five (Hon) B.Sc degree programmes in the fields of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Architecture and design and Communication Engineering.
The College was established in 1991 and licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Since its inception 13 batches with B.Sc (Hon) degrees were graduated in addition to 15 batches with Diploma degrees.

Forum Title: Environmental Impact of Pesticide Application in Sudan

Summary:
1. The forum shaded the light on the pesticide use & the importance of natural resources protection (as water and soil) from pesticide pollution and miss use.
2. Types of pesticide, wrong means of application and its negative impact on human, animals and surrounding environment.
3. The obsolete pesticides must not be in use.
4. The safe methods of application and necessary protective equipment.
5. The recommended quality and quantity for each pesticide.
6. Considering the residue effect before marketing or consuming the agricultural products.
7. Following all safety precautions while transporting, storing, handling, or disposing pesticides. It should be used only by authorized personnel or trained farmers.
8. Some examples of misuse and bad storage practices lead to catastrophic results.
9. Concern international conventions (Basel, Rotterdam, etc).
10. Imposing intensive awareness programs for farmers and agricultural workers.
11. The health impact of pesticide accumulation on animal's body and milk secretion.
12. Simple techniques to avoid toxicity and contamination like keeping wind direction into account, hand wash after application & covering food stuff during spry.
13. The international code of conduct on the distribution & use of pesticide.
14. The modern approach leading to sound management of pesticides which focuses on Risk reduction, protection of human and environmental health.
15. Support for sustainable agricultural development by using pesticides in an effective manner and applying standard strategies.

The forum came up with many recommendations as:
1. Designing national plans for scientific research and monitoring in the filed of pesticide and providing needed funds, equipments & capacity building.
2. Introducing the ethical dimension in Integrated Pesticide Management (IPM).
3. Enforcing national permissible level for residues in food and entire ecosystem.

On Sunday 10 February 2008, Computer Man College launched the new computerized automatic doors for Staffs and Students. The event began with the speech of Dr. Abubaker Mustafa who appreciates the staffs for their efforts.
The event was also attended by all deputy director, head of department and all the staff of Computer Man College.


Dr. Abubaker Mustafa began the ceremony.

Summary:
1 . The forum presented and discussed the the importance of ground water (G.W) as venerable and precious natural resource, the G.W management, the challenges facing this management in arid and semi arid areas like pollution and misuse, how to operate the G.W efficiently.
2 . G.W pollution is a direct result of earth's surface contamination with various pollutants such as waste water.
3 . The aquifer in Sudan: Bara basin, Azaza basin, etc.
4 . The advantages of G.W to surface water (the G.W is fresher & healthier), the hydro cycle and rechargeable aquifers.
5 . Figures and statistics about G.W in Darfur with quantities in rural and urban areas in the Sudan.
6 . Technical modules and mathematical formulas showing the status of the G.W, aquifer and rock formations.
7 . 1/3 of the world land mass is irrigated by G.W.
8 . In the U.S.A 45% of cultivated land is irrigated by G.W.
9 . In Algeria, Morocco and Iran the share of G.W is 67%, 75%, and 58% respectively.
10. In Libya and Tunisia the G.W is the only traditional source of fresh water.
11. Around 2500 – 3500 BCM of G.W is annually renewable, out of which only 750 – 800 BCM/year is currently used.
12. It's clear that most of G.W withdrawal is used for irrigation of agriculture.
13. The largest G.W consumers: India, USA, China, Pakistan, Iran and Mexico.
14. Pollution prevention and over exploitation prevention are the right way to sustainable G.W management.
15. Sand dunes in many areas are covering large aquifers.
16. Some of the problems facing the G.W:
      Lack of clear water policy
      Lack of finance.
      No major investment in G.W
      Dealing with water sector as a secondary one.

Computer Man College (CMC) started its journey in the year 1991 as a new avenue for tertiary level studies in the domain of technological and scientific studies in Sudan. Since then the College had produced numerous talented Computer Engineers, IT Professionals, and Telecommunication Engineers for the nation.

On 15th January 2008, CMC celebrated its 17th glorious years of quality education in the presence of notable figures within Sudan and outside.

The Function was duly attended by His Excellency Minister of Higher Education, George Boreng Niami, Minister of Science and Technology, Abdelrahman Mohammed Saeed along with Dr. Farouk El-baz, Maulana Dafalla Elhaz Yousif among other distinguished guests.

The Ceremony began with the speech of the college president Dr. Abubaker Mustafa who highlighted the college journey so far and its applauding role in Sudanese human capital development. Among various activities, the day hosted a display of scientific projects and models prepared by students of various departments which got rave reviews from the illustrious guests.

The event also witnessed an encouraging speech from Prof. Farouk Elbaz highlighting the role of GIS/Remote sensing.
